Landed in Toronto

Bienvenue. Welcome. It has been two weeks in Toronto. I arrived on 25th August and have been trying to settle down at Toronto and my apartment. It is the first time I traveled to a place outside my country. In this entry I will try to write about my first international travel. As this blog entry is after a long time, I might write a lot.

As it was my first international flight, I was excited as well as curious. My parents came down to airport to see me off. After going through the security check-up, I went through the emigration check-up. Unlike my expectations, the emigration check-up guy tried giving me pain. According to him, my admisssion letter and my student visa were enough to convince him that I was going for my studies. He was trying to put me under pressure but I soon realized my mistake. Actually, I was speaking to him in Hindi. After I spoke to him in English for two mins, he was convinced and gave me the clearance. I finally managed to get out of that place. However, it was completely opposite at the Toronto airport. I got clearance in just few minutes.

My flight from New Delhi airport was on time and I boarded it comfortably. However, I was a bit disappointed by both the service and crew inside the plane. Maybe because I had high expectations. Though my flight was at at 2:15am, I was not feeling sleepy. I wanted to talk to people sitting besides me but unfortunately they didnèt knew English. So after having my refreshments, I tried sleeping but in vain. After my continuos attempts, I managed to get a sleep of a couple of hours. My flight landed London airport fifteen minutes late. I was very excited that I have reached London. Had just heard and seen London in movies and I was exicted to see London. Though I were to remain in the airport only, but the feeling of reaching London was great. I saw people wearing completely different dressing style.Went down to duty free shops. Had heard from many people that stuff in duty free shops is cheap. But when I saw the price tags, I realized that at the stuff was no way cheap for me. I could have never bought that stuff. I was just wondering that will I ever be able to buy a stuff from these places? Are the people buying stuff from those shops super rich? After roaming around for a while I decided to take rest. As I had not talked to anyone for a long time, I wanted to talk to somebody. I started a conversation with an old lady who was going to her son's marraige. She said she will be seeing her son after twenty five years and her husband was not attending the marraige because he was not feeling well. As she was talking, I was just wondering about the culture difference between countries. She was from UK but she had settled in SA with her Husband and her son was a greencard holder in US.

And ya. I didn't take the direct flight from India to Toronto so had a hop at London before reaching my final destination Toronto. I comfortably boarded my second and final flight to Toronto. Unfortunately, in this flight also person sitting besides me didn't knew English. However, at that time time it was day outside. So, for some time I looked outside my window and later watched a movie (17 Again). Nice watch. In the second flight, cabin service was better than that of the last flight's.

Finally, I arrived my destination, Toronto. I took taxi from Airport to my destination, graduate apartments. Many taxi drivers were Indian and my taxi driver too. Wow, I observed that people here are tech savy. Driver used GPS system in the car and took me to my apartment. During our travel,he expressed his views and started comparing two countries. I quitely listened his point of view and on few occasions expressed my view. He was very helpful. He called my room partner to come down and escort me to the correct apartment. Finally DD reached his destination. Chalo. Good Bye for now. This blog has already shooted the permissible word count. Will soon write on my experiences. Byeeee.
