One Lakh Car -Nano

Oh man.An Indian's auto company has done, what whole world has failed to do.This week, the world's cheapest car was unveiled by Ratan Tata in eighth auto-expo in Delhi. As an engineer, I feel great that Indian engineers have brought such a big break through in auto industry.

Till now India has been doing really good in service sector, but I feel that this invention will rejuvenate the manufacturing industry of India.Nano, mathematically equivalent to-9th power of 10,will open a new market segment in developing countries like India.Because of the car's novelty factor, I feel that Nano will not just be a lower segment car, but will be accepted by the high budget market. Nano has good looks and meets all the security and environment norms. It will fulfill many many Indian families' dream of owning a four wheeler. My only wish is,Nano shouldn't meet the fate of Indica. It should not become a commercial vehicle.

Nano has the potential to bring Indian Auto industry on the world map. Tata understands the nerve of the middle class. They were the one who bought Voltas AC for Indian people.Once the Ac's were of 20K bugs. But now one can get the lowest model for close to 10K bugs. One lakh car is not just a dream come true for the common man,but also for Ratan Tata.In an interview he said that it was bigger achievement than the takeover of Corus. It was in the case of Nano that they made a breakthrough and created something new by themselves.

Some of my friends will argue that it will burden the infrastructure and natural resources of India. But I don't think that way.The number of two wheelers have been rising at a high pace but nobody talks of that. But as a big break through comes, people start fearing the negative effects rather than looking at the positive points.I think that it is selfish on the part of people to not allow people of lower middle class to own a CAR.If people are so much worried about the traffic jams and the environmental harms of Nano, why don't they press for a good transport system and leave their Hondas,Scodas,Marutis,Mercedes and blah blah. And start using the public transport.Tomorrow I am planning to visit the auto expo and look my Nano closely.Ya,my Nano, every engineer's and every Indian's Nano.Chalo.Byee friends.TC

Failures

Failure. What is a failure? It is when we endeavor to do something but are not able to accomplish that, we term it as our failure. Failure, in my opinion is a very relative term .For a person achieving a particular thing will be big success but there will one, for whom that would be nothing less than a failure. Let me take an example of students aspiring to get a management degree. There will be one, for whom getting admission in any one of the top ten management college will be a success. But there will one, for whom anything less than A, B or C will be termed as failure.

Most people face failures at some point or the other in their life, but not everybody. Some people are born so intelligent, that they never fail. Whatever they endeavor to accomplish, they achieve. Though I fear that, many of my friends will not agree with me on this.I feel few in this world are born to be successful. Also,I strongly feel that, it is not just the intellect that make them successful. It is their self-knowledge.They know themself so well that they will try only those things, that they think can accomplish. They always play to their strenghts. I feel,if one is aware of his or her strengths and weaknesses, he/she can make maximum use of his strengths and gain success in his attempts. Also,as a person gains confidence through his/her success, he/she can work on his/her weaknesses, and turn his weaknesses in his strengths.

People say that failures are part of one’s life and I also think so. One should not stop doing new things in his/her life, just because of failure. As they say, one should treat failures as mere experiences. So guys, in my opinion, if one wants to be successful and want to be have success in all his/her endeavors, one has to understand oneself thoroughly and play to one's strengths. I am also trying but not met with much success in my attempts of self understanding. I wish all my friends sucesss in their life and get whatever they want from life.Chalo Byee and tc.

Topper

Topper. Middle class of India has been the most vulnerable class to this phenomena. Every parent wants his/her child to be on the top. And, in this exercise to proclaim their child to be so called "Topper"; they at times forget that everybody can't be a Topper.

It is always the topper, who gets most of the limelight. With the fear of sounding self contrary, I will say that society has been changing and the parents, mostly the educated ones who have already gone through the tussle of this topper-shopper ,understand that the being a Topper is not the mission accomplished. They have to provide enough ammunition to their child to face this world, which is no less than a war. But I feel lower middle class is still married to the word Topper. I hope, as India and world progresses, life gets better for a non-Topper like me.

Though I have restricted my talk to toppers in the education, this phenomenon of Topper is present in all the spheres to life. If we take the scenario of corporate world, it is usually the boss who is paid the highest package. All the important decisions are taken by him and whatever he/she says is the final.Though this is important for decision making, but, at times he forgets that he/she is nothing without his sub-ordiantes. They are the pillars on which he builds his empire. Boss in this case can be compared to the Topper. Some of my friends might differ on that. With globalization and more exposure, situation is getting better, but there is still a lot to be accomplished and lot to be done to change the mindset and psyche of the people.

I am not against Toppers and I am in no way advocating mediocrity. I strongly feel that one should always endeavor to be Numero Uno in whatever he/she does. There have always been toppers and they will always be there. But what we should not forget is that there are people below the toppers, who also add value and who have come in this world to play some important role.Chalo. Enjoy everybody and a Happy New Year 2008.Don't forget, there is only one life, make most out of it irrespective of whether you are a Topper or not .
